Meet the medical team

This site names the team that writes, reviews and performs. The guides are led and medically reviewed by Tongchun Mao, MD, whose breast and body practice includes augmentation with implants or the patient's own fat, mastopexy and the donor-site surgery that fat transfer requires; the colleagues below contribute the skin, scar and revision expertise this operation often needs.

Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Breast surgery · body contouring · liposuction

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon at Chongqing West District Hospital, where he is Deputy Director and Head of Aesthetic Surgery in its Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and the lead physician of this site. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, he has rooted his clinical practice for more than 20 years and personally performs over 700 operations a year.

His scope on this site is breast and body contouring: breast augmentation with implants or the patient's own fat, mastopexy, breast reduction for symptomatic macromastia, nipple and areola surgery, abdominoplasty, liposuction, and staged contouring after major weight loss. His stated philosophy is consistent across all of it: measure before designing, choose the smallest operation that achieves the stated goal, and stay honest about scars, about implants that are not lifetime devices, and about the six-to-twelve-month wait for a final result.

Clinical focus

  • Breast augmentation — implants or autologous fat transfer
  • Breast lift (mastopexy) and breast reduction for symptomatic macromastia
  • Nipple and areola surgery, including inversion correction
  • Liposuction and body contouring, including the fat-transfer donor site
  • Abdominoplasty and repair of the post-pregnancy abdominal wall
  • Staged contouring after major weight loss

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Rhinoplasty and Trunk Tumor Groups, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics Quality Control Center; Member, Chongqing Medical Accident / Disability Assessment Expert Pools
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Shapingba District Medical Aesthetics Committee
  • Published 5 SCI papers, holds 7 national patents, and has participated in 4 research projects
  • Repeatedly named an Outstanding Young Physician at Xinqiao Hospital since joining in 2005

Volume with restraint

More than 700 operations a year counts only alongside selection: every consultation is also a decision about whether surgery should happen at all, and every honest body-contouring practice turns patients away. The operations a surgeon declines are part of the judgement you are hiring.

He previously served as Deputy Chief of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience.

Within the aesthetic team he is the backstop for difficult cases, including correction of unsatisfactory cosmetic surgery performed elsewhere. Patients who arrive with irregularity, a persistent lump or an asymmetry after fat transfer are usually assessed within this part of the service.

Clinical focus

  • Repair of unsatisfactory cosmetic operations, including revision and reconstruction
  • Complex wound repair and tertiary-hospital surgical support

Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Scar and aftercare · perioperative skin

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years.

Her role in this service is everything the operation itself does not do: skin quality before surgery, and scar and pigment aftercare afterwards — including the small donor-site scar and any pigmentation left behind by bruising.

Clinical focus

  • Skin quality and barrier repair before and after surgery
  • Scar prevention and repair at the donor and recipient sites
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dr. Yongbo Jia is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its dermatology service. He graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Within the team his role is the skin itself: assessing before surgery the conditions that affect healing, and afterwards managing the scar and pigment problems that a good operation on poor skin can still leave behind.

Clinical focus

  • Preoperative skin assessment and postoperative skin care
  • Pigment conditions and inflammatory skin disease that affect healing
